Deckwork Repair Illustration
Levels of deckwork repair are determined as follows:
For any metal decking found to be in “like-new” condition as demonstrated in photo 1, no work is required. Decking must be cleaned of any and all phenolic roof insulation debris.

Note: in projects utilizing galvanized metal decking, any areas exhibiting white oxidation only, require no painting. However, any general work area of up to 1 Square, in which any level of red rust is present, that entire area should be, at a minimum, painted.

Any metal decking found to be in “overlay or replace” condition as illustrated in photo 2 and the enclosed deck “coupon” or sample, decking shall be cleaned and coated with the Coating supplied and overlayed with new metal decking, or completely removed and replaced at the building owners option.

Note: Photo 2 is for illustration purposes only. Deck coupon should serve as actual criteria for level of repair. Any metal decking with corrosion that meets or exceeds the level on the enclosed coupon qualifies for the “overlay or replace” standard.
